CHEMICAL VAPOUR DEPOSITION

Where personal carbon begins to become something you can hold.

By the time this stage begins, the hair, fur or ashes at the heart of your story have been carefully prepared. The carbon recovered from them has been purified and transformed into a carbon-rich gas, ready for the CVD reactor.

Through a sealed supply system, this gas is introduced into the reactor. Microwave energy creates a glowing plasma, releasing carbon atoms so they can settle onto a tiny diamond seed and continue its crystal structure.

Atom by atom. Layer by layer. Carbon connected to the love at the heart of your story begins to form part of a genuine diamond, something brilliant, physical and made to be carried close.

The diamond seed

A tiny, high-quality diamond seed is carefully placed inside the sealed CVD chamber. It provides the crystal foundation on which your new diamond can begin to grow.

The personal carbon

The carbon-rich gas prepared using carbon recovered from your material is guided into the chamber through a sealed supply system.

This is the moment carbon connected to your story enters the environment where your diamond will grow.

Plasma activated

Microwave energy creates a glowing plasma inside the chamber. This releases carbon atoms from the gases, making them available to join the growing crystal.

Diamond growth begins

The released carbon atoms settle onto the diamond seed and follow its existing crystal structure.

Layer by layer, a new rough diamond begins to take shape. This is where carbon recovered from the material at the heart of your story becomes part of a genuine diamond.

Growth carefully monitored

Throughout growth, temperature, pressure, gas flow and energy are carefully monitored and adjusted to support the developing crystal.

Over time, the diamond grows towards the rough size required for your chosen carat target.

The rough diamond revealed

Once growth is complete, the crystal is cooled, carefully removed and assessed.

At this stage, it is a genuine rough diamond, ready to be cut and polished into the shape chosen for your LOYA creation.

FROM A ROUGH DIAMOND TO YOUR BRILLIANT DIAMOND

The diamond has grown.
Now its brilliance is revealed.

When your LOYA diamond leaves the reactor, it is still a rough crystal, uncut, unpolished and waiting for its final form to be revealed.

The rough diamond is carefully scanned and assessed. Expert cutters then create a cutting plan that responds to its individual structure while working towards your chosen shape and carat target.

It is cut and polished facet by facet, allowing its proportions and brilliance to emerge.

The personal carbon that took part in its growth is now held within a finished, genuine diamond created for your story.

Finally, your diamond is independently graded by the International Gemological Institute. Its individual IGI Certificate records its laboratory-grown origin and unique diamond characteristics.

The carbon recovered from the material you entrust to us is purified and transformed into a carbon-rich gas. Because CVD is a gas-based growth method, that prepared personal carbon can be introduced into the reactor through a sealed supply system.
